    Biz C454 developer units

Anyone know if the developer counts carry over to another machine? I was going to use a developer unit from a shop machine with only 1K on the dv unit. I know you can chip them but this customer is over the dv life and from the scan they sent me it looks like the "K" DV dumped. What's weird is I just replaced the "K" drum about a week ago and all was good. Maybe the new drum threw off the settings and with dv being over life it dumped? There is a K/M bulletin addressing over life consumables and dv dumping.

    Thanks in advance

Yes counter values stay with the IU. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for the reply BC. I'm assuming you meant the dv unit? As you know this machine doesn't have IU's it has separate drums & dv's. Do the drum counts carry over as well?

Just an update that may help someone else with this question and don't ruin a good dv unit. The developer units do NOT carry over to another machine. As I posted earlier I was going to use K Dev unit from a shop machine with only 1k clicks. Put into machine that had dumped, the consumable life stayed at old setting. This caused the value to be 11+ when it should be around 6.5 which caused it to throw C2558 codes.
You can swap dev units but need to replace the DV reset chip to setup values. I didn't have the chip thinking it would carry over, as was confirmed in this thread. Got it to work by running half tones and eventually got it into the 7 range. Keeping my fingers crossed setting holds.

I do believe the drums carry over the life count.

No IU & DV unit counts stay with the machine & are not carried over if you swap them to another machine.

For the dv loss issue the official line is, if you are experiencing dv loss do not let any unit go over life, its all to do with charge bias being too low in the dev unit, the dev is then pulled into the waste box.

Also if you are not using genuine toner you WILL see this issue a lot.

Genuine KM toner contains small amounts to carrier & "refreshes the dv unit over time.

If you're on a budget I have had good success in saving old dv units, emptying out the old dev & topping up a failed unit, takes a bit of practice but works very well, I keep tubs of dev in the van.

Have had it were a new drum will cause the DV to dump, then needs a DV-512 to fix the problem.

These days i just take an emptied DV-512 fill it with DV-114 to get the original weight of the entire tank.
Then solder a new ICP onto the chip...

I don't recommend this for everyone as there is many ways to #$^* this up.
    Whatever
