C284 e firmware

We have a C284e which had old firmware.When we tried to update we had no response to download, the copier warmed up as usual.The odd thing was that it treated the stick as an external memory.it was in the right port and we tried several sticks with freshly downloaded firmware, and we tried on another copier and it downloaded as expected.anyone else had this problem?? Thanks for any help.

I have no idea why, but every once in a while I will run into a 4/4e series machine that will not accept my "Go-To" USB drive. I've had times where I'm setting up 4-5 new (identical) machines, updating firmware, and one of the 5 just won't accept my drive.

My recommendation, even if you KNOW your USB drive is good/working....try a couple different USB sticks, anyways.
