Then go and set HDD in service mode. You may need to format it, movie data, FW etc.
Best case it will work once machine recognized it.

What size (3,5" or 2,5") and what max disk capacity can be inserted into c454e?

All of KMs office equipment can operate w/o HDDs. We have some installs where the HDD must be rempoved prior to placement. Even though some functions may be lost, the web browser works in this config..The 454e is pretty old, you may just be using a browser that is too new to be supported (try running IE in compatibility mode). You could also do a network setting reset via service mode. Go through the admin settings to see if you can determine if SSL is on (TCP Socket Settings, Open API). When the HDD is not in use, the device will use a USB solid state drive (you may not see it) You should be able to go into service mode/state confirmation, page 2 and format the SSD. This would remove any installed SSL certs. You have mentioned several time that HTTP server is enabled so I don't think it's an admin setting blocking you. I'm only offering this as some help. It could also be firmware and the web browser portion is corrupt. Only other thing I can think of is you are running a gigabit network and the MFP can't communicate at this speed, try putting and old hub between the MFP NIC and the wall jack, or ensure your laptop NIC is running at no more than 100MB. I did not check. Will I find where the instructions are in which place is the hard drive?
