C550, I'm seeing faint spots when printing pastel colours

    Hi Guys

New to the forum, this is my 1st post
I'm kind of new the print industry, bought my own KM C5501 2nd user from a company who serviced the machine for previous client.

I've had the machine for around 1.5 years. during the heat spell I noticed that we were getting a lot of faint spotting on light pastel colours.

Had the engineer look at it, he put it down to moisture in the air. Which made sense when it was hot. Not so much when its cold. I cant really feel any moisture in the air.

Since we have had it, it has had various parts changed. around 2-3 months back. Its had a full service totaling over £1400

I was expecting this to have resolved the faint spotting issue.

Spoke to the engineer again. Asked me to refresh the toners from the adjustment menu. this hasn't helped, it's £90 for a call out charge and clearly they cant seem to resolve the issue as I have mentioned it to them over the last 3 visits

I'm attaching photos of my most recent job. Business cards on 350silk, the background colour is a salmon/pink. I can clearly see ghosting/spotting in the print

    Id really appreciate your advice

I cant seem to upload images of the prints. I've saved the files in various ways. But keeps getting rejected by the upload module in this wysiwyg

i dont think you can attach files too big or perhaps before your 10th post (some forums)
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
Also don't ask me for files without a contributor badge.

    Ok..
    1) I take it the machine is rated for 350gsm?
    2) What settings are you using in the driver?
    3) You are using mpt to feed paper?
    4) Are you sure fuser/belt/drums in good working order?

    Those are limits for attachments:

Couldn't find in Board FAQs limit per posts to add attachments, but may be wrong on this.

Re: C5501, I'm seeing faint spots when printing pastel colours

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you know this machine is 11 years old, don't you? It's not that it can't be fixed, but if they haven't stopped making parts yet, it will be soon. How much money are you going to throw at a machine headed to it's grave? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    apologies Phil B

The total Print count is 1.3 million

From what I understand, its had a full service, I.e all major parts changed. Which is what the engineer advises I do once a year. all parts are Original.

Due to the nature of my business. I specialise in large format printing. I possibly don't use this machine as much as a regular full time printer.
for this reason the machine isn't on a click contract. However they have advised this is possible in the future when I increase my prints. Its obviously getting more and more use each month.

I tried compressing the images before uploading, even tried different formats

    Hi

1: I'm not duplexing the paper. Never seems to give me trouble, also,I'm getting the issue with the spots on every paper weight if printing pastel colours
2: Paper weight 357/300g/m2, Paper Type-GL, Duplex off
3: I'm using The side tray (Tray4 LCT)
4: Fuser/belt/drums should be virtually brand new. Just had a major service in which I was told all major parts have been replaced with new original parts

What would possibly help more, is you guys seeing the photos. I'll try to upload to a different site and link back to this post

I did try all this before posting the original post, I'm now thinking it might be an issue with firefox. As I've also had issues with responding to some of your responses over the weeken
