Dislikes: Some reason the machine does not recognize the drawer 2 option. Was working and now not. We replaced the entire assembly from a known good unit and same result. Doesn't see drawer 2 at all. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bent or dirty connection in the connector of the machine that mates up with the 2nd tray.
Started in the copier service business in the fall of 1988 and worked at the same company for 33.5 years, becoming the senior tech in 2004 but left to pursue another career on 4/29/22.
likely had an error code related to drawer 2 and customer pressed HELP...which disables the component that caused the error code. Check service manual for faulty part isolation for tray 2 in DIPSW mode..you should be good after that
