Swopping Dev units

I ve had an issue with swopping a 2nd hand dev unit in a C224 and a C280.A quality issue with both indicated that the dev unit was faulty.In the past we have put a 2nd one in with a new chip in,and had no problems.Then when I tried one recently it would not zero the count and came up with Dev unit installation error
message.No matter what I did I could not get rid.Even after putting the original unit back in.We had to swop the machine,but I would like to know what is going on.Thanks for any ideas.

Probably popped the front side board.

I always wondered if the dev units were same with C224 and C220. Will it work if you swap board/chip?

Not English but found this on youtube.
This is how i reset these units. The tool he use makes a dead short between pin 1 and 5 for dev tank or pin 1 and 3 for the drum.
Sometimes i would change out the ICP's.

The C280 you can do without the waste box. The C224 needs the waste box installed.

Ok, let me ask it a different way, can you use a C280 dev unit in a C224 and the other way around? Of course having to change the chip/reset pwb from one to the other.

If anyone has tried it with or without success? If I don't get any replies I may be able to experiment some. Suppose to get a C280 in trade next week. I will try one of the C280 DV units in a C224 I have in shop. Will report back soon unless someone flat out tells me it won't work.

The dev tanks for the C224 range got a developer waste port on the color tanks.
Also the C220 range color and B/W tanks were not the same but the C224 tanks were all similar.

So i don't think they can be changed out. Some parts could be the same.

Thanks allan for saving my time. I didn't have a C220 DV unit to put side by side with a c224 which I have plenty laying around. I would of saw they were different and not even asked the question.
