Exclamation Bizhub C451 w/ EK-603

Techs,
Does anyone have any experience with the EK-603 USB Interface? We have several issues, so bare with me. First, we installed 2 EK-603 into 2 Bizhub C451 machines. When we tried to insert USB memory sticks into the interface, we got no recognition of the external memory the way the instructions said we should. This was our first experience with the EK-603, so we are unsure whether we need to initialize the unit in some way. Does anyone know if we do and if so, how? Also, as a warning to others, nowhere in the literature does it say not to use a drive with U3 software installed. Evidently, it will corrupt the machine firmware. Which brings me to our next problem.
Our 128mb compact flash will not load the firmware. The message says "Invalid Card". We have tried to use the ISW interface to load firmware, but we keep getting various errors. Does anyone have DETAILED information on how to use the interface and which filenames to use?
Last question, we were led to believe the EK-603 had replaced the EK-602 and can be used in the C451. Is this true, or do we need the EK-602?
Any help would be appreciated as this is an emergency.
Thanks.

Did you create the card using the Firmware Imaging Tool?

Yes. We used the firmware imaging program. I am led to believe the firmwrae of the machine can be corrupted by the U3 software on some USB drives so we are trying to reload it, but can't. That is why we want to try the ISW method.

If you are referring to the Internet ISW upgrade procedure, from what I can see you would have to have a fully functional machine connected to a server. If your machine is not fully functional then rewriting firmware with a CF card is your only option. What exactly is your machine doing? And have you removed the Ek-603 putting the machine back to the condition before you started?

The problem is with your cf card - I would recommend to get a new card and reflash it. Now about your usb kit - the u3 software does not corrupt the firmware it will just not work and you will get a message on the copier screen that there are two devices attached to the unit for which it will not work. Google U3 remover and you will get a link for a U3 removal program which is free. This will format your thumbdrive and you will be able to use it with your machine. Good luck.

The machine is working perfectly but won't recognize the flash drive when it is plugged into the EK-603. We have removed both units (we have 2) and tried them in other machines. Nothing works. I would still like info on the ISW method of loading firmware. Which file do we indicate in the machine interface and how should it be formatted?

don't buy cheap ones, we went through several brands before getting a couple of sandisk cards, they work every time.

The problem you have is because you are using the wrong USB interface kit. The kit for the Bizhub C451/550/650 is the EK 602 and the product # is A090WW0. You are using an EK 603 which is made for the C203/253/353. It won't work! Get the correct interface kit, update the firmware, and you should be good.

According the the Copier Reference Chart released by KonicaMinolta Oct2008

Ek-602 for models C451,C550,C65

EK-603 for models C203.C253,C353,C451,C550,C650

Is this a mistake in the reference chart.
