7022 Dirty Drum

Seen this before where when you take the drum out its not quite clean basically drum is just covered in toner almost solid black or sometimes just slightly covered. I've not had this one myself just heard of it and its usually just a case of replacing the drum unit itself but what actually does it ? Is it a faulty charge or something more sinister...

Anyone else had this kinda problem before ?

Seen it.

I've had this to occur after working on the drum unit (cleaning blade replacement, corona, etc.). Usually removing and reseating the drum unit has taken care of it. Almost looks like the drum unit drags on the developing roller. As far the cause, couldn't say though I would suspect it to be a grounding problem with the drum not being able to discharge.
