    Angry C6500 5mm Jump

    C6500 IC303 1.7 million

    Simplex and duplex jump 5mm

    Replaced the following

Both ADU/PFU centering sensors 2 times
Replaced IPB board with rev 28
    Latest firmware reflashed multiple times
Followed trouble shooting tech guide ver 2.0
I have been fighting this problem for months.

Jump occurs on all weights and sizes. I can run a job of 4,000 images perfect. The next job with out openeing a paper tray will jump around within 5 pages. I can run for several days no jumping.

    Any ideas?

Side to side. Lead edge is fine.

Assuming tray side guides are good, is machine power stable? lsu/hsync problem? Or even possible main board? Any sort of pattern @ all?

No real pattern. Everytime I think I have it fixed it comes back.
I get no errors or any other issues.

Does this happen from all paper trays? If it only happens with the 2 tray LCT then turn dip switch 26 bit 4 ( I think )to the opposite of what it is. Auto image centering from LCT.

When I disable the PF/ADU centering sensors the problem stops.
Both trays 4/5 have the same issue.
When you disable the senors you loose 2mm on the side to side registration. Pretty tough to print buisness cards with the sensors disabled.

I have seen this happen when the pb side guides are "out of synch" Check that the arrows align on the "synch" gear underneath the paper lift plate if they are out by just one tooth i have seen exactly what you describe here occur..Si

This is without a word of a doubt poor paper guide setting or your customer is cutting the paper to narrow or too short to what they are actually setting the tray to. The paper could be either 1mm too narrow or too wide for this 5mm shift to happen. DO NOT leave the back guide static and move only the front guide the two MUST move together.

There is nothing wrong with the machine it is performing normaly.

Yes I have noticed the guides being out of centering especially on tray 4. In my machine it shows up instantly as 12x18 rather than SRA3.

The thing I can't work out though is how is the customer getting it to jump a tooth. Nothing I tried would make it do it & I have to remove the circlip, support guide & gear to realign.
