communication failure between OACB to Image controller IC-204. possible causes either OACB or IC 204. u try by removing IC 204 from OACB,may be u can fix it.

    Description
The machine displays a C-D203 at power on.
    Solution
Cause: The OACB (Overall Control Board) has failed.
Solution: Before replacing the OACB reseat the NVRAM and Memory on board connections. If the issue is still unresolved replace the OACB (p/n A0R5 H010
    06).

We've had similar problems with biz420/500. The tech bulletins list C-D203, C-E084, C-E081, C-E087 as pointing towards NVRAM problems. However, they also mention that updating the firmware can resolve many of these issues as well. I just updated the firmware on a problem machine yesterday, waiting now to see if we will have to replace the FW as well. FW is worth a try...hell of a lot cheaper than throwing new boards/nvram at the machine.

    Possible other cause for CD203

Not sure it helps much, but I just had a Bizhub 501 today with a sort-of similar issue.

We were originally having problems with constant jams in the registration section and determined that the PRCB (pn 50GA-9020E - the other control board in the machine) must be faulty, so we ordered a new board. It arrived this morning, we installed in the machine, and instantly got a CD282 code on startup. Reboots would either get the same code, CD183, or sometimes the CD203 you are having. I tried updating the firmware, then even tried flashing the built-in CF card to the base version 10 and incrementally upgrading, but the CD203 code kept coming up over and over.

I eventually gave up and just stuck their old PRCB back in just to see if the codes would go away. First power on was a success. Rebooted the machine repeatedly just to test and the code never came back. However, the registration jamming issue is still there (I've tested the multi-codes out and determined that the registration clutch among other things are NOT being turned on at all). I've since RA'd the supposedly brand-new PRCB and should be getting another new one tomorrow morning.

Also, though this might be completely unrelated, I've had a few Bizhub C352s out in the field that throw this code occasionally for no friggin' reason, but it only pops up once only to not return for many months. Control boards/firmware/etc, all to no avail.

Armaddon, Sounds like icp 4 on the prcb is blown. Here's a list of icps and fuses. Imageshack - 360420500icplist - Uploaded by huronman

Careful!! If you had the toner supply unit out for any reason and the toner solenoid off when you reassemble it, you can use the wrong screw(s) (longer ones) into the solenoid and short it to the frame and kill your control board (or icp 4 I suppose (never checked!))... its like that for the 420 series and would bet its similar for the 421 series as well! Just a though!
