Question Scanning Set-Up - 1050 on DHCP Network? FTP?

I've been thrown in on a 1050 with no history. I need a SOLUTION for a SCANNING DESTINATION on a network running DHCP.

The KM FTP utility software needs to run on a addressable machine, yet it is not written for servers OS versions only workstations.

    of course with DHCP...
Only the servers have static IP addresses!

    E-Mail...
for some reason I've yet to get it to send an Email so that has not been a solution.

    shots in the dark...
    - Can a workstation have a 'server name' so that it can be addressed without using IP?
    - Newer software/firmware that I may not be aware of???

All computers have a "name" and you can scan to this name but you need to have the dns info installed in the machine. if not then it does not know where to find the computer. As to email it depends on a lot of variables. The most common is that exchange needs to whitelist (open relay) to allow most machines to email through them.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Which OS is the server running? One option is to install the FTP server from IIS services in Windows itself.
