Bizhub 500 contoller overheating

Print controller overheating causing C4701 codes.
Fan under controller stops after copying is done.
Is there a setting to keep this fan on all the time.
I checked the manual but couldn't find fan control.

C4701 is a laser abnormality in the manual I have for the Bizhub 500.

I know what the code means.
I turned the machine off for the night and the next morning it was making copies like nothing was wrong.
Hence the overheating issue.

I can see you have a "Rep Power" of 13 and must know what you're doing. I will not bother to offer my thoughts to you again. Sorry,I didn't mean to "offend" you.

EBM is probably right, from my experience when you start to get 4701's it is time to put a new laser unit in. Dare I ask is the filter on the fan clean as I am sure you know that it sucks air in and blows this up to the chip. On the new boards they have a big heat zinc on the chip, so Mr Nippon is aware of the trouble. Just a friendly thought.

That would explain the overheating.
I got this machine third hand and want to make it run to resell.
I am considering installing an extra cooling fan to kep the temp down.

Maybe you should consider to install a heat sink, if that is possible

I found a fan from an old video card that mounted to the chip the same size as on the controller.
I don't think it is a bad indexing sensor.
I believe it is a chip on the print contoller that is shutting down.
I am thinking that the indexing sensor gets information from the print contoller board.
I found this chip getting very hot to the touch.
I found it by the smell of heated electronics as I was fighting a printing problem.
I am just "bouncing" ideas around.

Maybe get some serious technical discusions about theory and not just quick fixes.

Your fault might be different, but, after replacing the laser unit the 4701 has never come back. In these cases if the chip was breaking down I would have assumed that the 4701 fault would resurface. I do agree though that putting band-aids on the fault can sometimes be a quick fix.

Heat sink with fan attached and wired into 24v power for lower drawer units.
1 month & 20K later, no 4701 codes.
