    FK-502 Protocol Error

    Hello folks

I'm by no means a fax wizard, so please be gentle!

Been working on an FK-502 today which just started having T00 codes on Sending and in the history stating Deleted due to error being a "Protocol Error". It does not receive either.

It has a broadband filter with the dsl line and phone line. Broadband is ok. If I phone the fax it just rings or is engaged. Also, no dial tone when off hook on the m/c.

If I take the bb filter off and put the fax line straight into the socket i get a dial tone, when off hook on the m/c, and with a normal phone, but still cannot send or receive.

If I phone the number with a phone plugged in, the phone rings.

I've been advised to go in with a patch cable with the set-up being bb through the bb filer to wireless router and fax line to m/c. Im also going to take a new bb filter too.

Other than that I will be stumped, so have you super lot any advice.

    Many thanks

A DSL line is not recommended at all. The filters and extra noise can cause issues. Dumb down the machine. set coding to MH, turn off V.34, turn off ECM.

If anyone is interested the patch cable sorted this problem.

Also, BIG PAPA - MH was on and V.34 was off.

      Thanks for your input
