FS503 with J72-19 Attached to 1050P from post last week

I still have not had any luck myself or with a help response. Went back in on this thing and i can run Letter R with staple. I ran 11x17 with staple and runs fine. When i run 81/2x11 it gets j72-19. I watched the paper coming out by fuser exit to finisher and you can see the pause at end of set with the letter r and the 11x17. The 81/2x11 just goes throught the machine with no pause between sets and the 1st copy of the second set gets to ps5 to early. It only does this with staple selected. Is this firmware or something else?? I am pretty sure it is not a finisher problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the reply. I think my finisher is newer with that mod but not sure. I found in one of my solution ID that had a code j72-20 and said the problem could be the fs-503 finisher drive board 15aa-9320. I have to check that one out. It only does it when stapling 81/2x11 paper except letter r runs fine.

    Later Thanks Again

If jam occurs when stapling 8.5x11 portrait or when recalling a stored copy job with finishing options selected, Special firmware is needed for the FS-503. (bizhub PRO 1050 series only)

Please load Special firmware version 50-ACK0.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Thank you so much for the help. I had a feeling it was the firmware. Will post back after the flash.

    Thanks Again Pudgi300

Went in and checked out machine today. Firmware is at: image control I1-I4 40-0000
    print c1 c2 40-0000
    multifolder H1 50-0000
    h-fold/stapler B1 50-0000
    Stapler N1 70-0000
    adf 11-0000
    IP Control 30-0000

also i checked on the cn19 connector and it had the jumper on it. I removed the jumper and connected cn19. I do not have the firmware to flash the machine.Think maybe when my boss got the machine they subbed a FS503 from somewhere else. I have another 1050p in the same room and the firmware on that is at 50-0000 with ip control at 25. Will i gain much by flashing both to 70-0000?? Thanks again for the fast response and help.

Never did get this thing flashed. Last week i had a control arm broken on the 3-hole punch. Took it all apart and used an arm from the 2-hole side. cleaned it all up and works great. THE BEST PART IS THAT THE 8 1/2 x 11 paper will now staple all the sets i want. Must have been connector or sensor in the folding punch area. Thanks to all that gave me help. If someone has an old fd-501 punch unit for parts let me know. Just need one of the arms that drive the punch slug.

Hi, Just wanted to follow up with you, I have the exact same problem with 1050/fs-503 j72-19. I have been fighting it all week. You are thinking that it it something in the fd-501. I have flashed the finisher with 50-acko firmware but did nothing. All new finisher boards, etc. I noticed the same thing you did with the mach. not pausing between sets. Did you find dirty sensors in the FD-501? I am sure it is a timing issue of some sort. Sure would like to get this one put to bed! Appreciate any detail you can give me. Customer is getting pissed! Thanks, Pete

All i did to fix was to pull the punch unit and clean it. I also cleaned every sensor in the area. Also check and see if you can staple letter r. When it was doing the jams only 81/2x11 would jam. Let me know how you make out.

Thanks for getting back. Yes, the same thing, I can run 11r and larger and I also discovered that if I set the paper weight up to 91g or higher, it also runs. It still jams but not as much. With reg. weight and on 8.5x11 it will jam every time on the second set. I will look at punch area on Mon. Thanks again, Pete
