    1) Information Gathering-Collect the following information:
    a. Host Name of recipient PC: From the Start Menu > Run > cmd > OK > ipconfig/all > enter. At the top of the page note the Host Name (exact spelling/case sensitive, please).
    b. IP address of recipient PC: From the Start Menu > Run > cmd > OK > ipconfig/all > enter. At the top of the page note the Ethernet Adapter IP address (i.e.: 192.168.0.22).
    c. User Windows Login:
    d. User Windows Password:
    2) Create a folder to receive scans:
    a. Create a new folder on the root of the hard drive: C:\scans (any name is OK but name must be spelled exactly the same in all uses).
    b. Share the folder: Right-click the folder icon then drop to Sharing & Security & left-click > radio button Share This Folder > left-click Permissions > checkmark Full Control > Apply > OK > Apply > OK.
    3) From your browser access the MFPs webpage:
    a. On the address line of the browser enter the IP address of the MFP, then
    Go.
    b. Select scan Settings > SMB Setup > contact > add > fill in Alias for the Setup: as you would like it to appear on the MFP display (“Joe’s Folder”).
    c. Fill in: > Host Name (see above 1a) or IP address (see above 1b), and radio button alongside Host Name or IP address > Share Name (see above 2a, Note: enter as ‘scans’ not ‘C:\scans’) > User Name (see above 1c) > User Password (see above 1d) > ‘Scan File Folder’ leave this line blank.
    d. Click Apply at the bottom of the page. You’re done!
    4) Potential trouble areas:
    a. DHCP must be OFF on the MFP.
    b. An IP address can be substituted for the Host Name when the PC has a static IP. Depending on the network one or the other may work better.
    c. Windows login/password must be accurate. There must be a valid login & password. In situations where the login is causing a problem with connecting to the PC a new login/password can be created just to receive scans. That login does not need to be open at the time.
    d. Folder must be in the root directory. Sharing must be ON, with permissions at Full Control.
    e. Port 139 or port 445 (either can be used) must be open on the server

I've found that if you scan to the public folder on a win7 64 bit box it's a piece of cake to get them to scan, if you try to make a folder and try to have it scan to that it's a HUGE pain in the butt. So I've been send them to the public share.

Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it. (I'm arrogant LOL)

    a. DHCP must be OFF on the MFP.

I'm intrested in why you state DHCP must be off???

Although I can see the value in assisgning a static IP for printing (but DHCP when set up correctly works quite well), the MFP being in DHCP or static has no bearing on scanning back to a shared folder...Not slamming your advice, just wondering why you think this must be so...EMujo

This machine uses 139 as it still some what relies on NetBIOS over TCP/IP where as 445 does not require NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

The biggest thing on any Konica Minolta is to make sure that the NTLM version is set to v1/v2:

    1. Utility / Counter
    2. Admin Settings
    3. Network Settings
    4. SMB Settings
    5. Client Settings
    6. Change NTLM version.

The machines are set to NTLM v1 out of the box, but Windows Vista and up (including all versions of Active Directory from 2003) use NTLM v2.

Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
