Konica error state after toner depletion

Fair disclosure: I am not a copier guy per se - I am an IT specialist who often repairs printers, copiers, and other equipment as part of my day-to-day activities.

Regarding a Konica 7020, the users have once again totally ignored the "Low Toner" warning and continued using the copier. The last time they did this, the copier eventually died with a F35-8 error and the little guy on the LCD display panel suggesting we call for service. Inserting a new toner refill did not make the little guy go away and, as I recall, we eventually called in a tech to reset the unit.

So, here we are once again with an empty toner bottle and another F35-8 error. I suspect that this can be fixed easily; possibly by resetting the DIP-SW3-1 latch?

Problem is, I cannot get into service mode while the little guy is on the display; tapping/holding the asterisk key has no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Low toner is not going to give you an 35-8 code that is a fuser code! this has been posted a number of times ,look at previous posts, just a little leg work and you should correct this problem, good luck

I realize it is a fuser code, but it seems to have a way of popping up whenever this department totally depletes the toner resevoir.

Okay, so holding the 2 and 5 keys while powering up got me past the little guy and allowed me to zero out SW3-1.

Now, powering up the copier begins what appears to be a normal startup followed by an F51-5 (M1 Speed) error after about 30 seconds.

I must reiterate that this problem seems to occur whenever the system is run until the toner is totally depleted from both the bottle and the (developer?) reservoir.

So, for posterity:

Went back into "25 Mode", selected "Adjustment Mode", then "Test Pattern". Pressed Start button when prompted; a single page printed, all black except for the white margin around the edges.

Display prompted me to press Start button again, which I did. This time it began a "Toner autosupply in progress" procedure. After some 30 seconds or so of mechanical cycling sounds, it popped up an F26-1 error.

Powered off, waited 10 seconds, powered on. Everything now appears to be functioning normally.

If you get a manual there probably is a setting to stop the copier if they do not add toner. Your 26 code was because of low toner and toner auto supply is trying to get it back to correct value after running it out of toner. running it out of toner also can damage the developer. (maybe causing the 26 code) Let them know developer is a costly thing to replace if they think they are sving money by not adding toner.

I always use the illustration of my cars gas tank. I don't get better gas milage if I run my car out of gas. The gas tank only holds the gas I need to make the car run. Like the copier the toner is only used when it needs more toner added to developing unit.

I understand some peoples misunderstanding because they can run there printers out of toner and maybe get a little more life out of it, if they shack the cartridge.

The 35 code probably needs a new temp sensor if it is failing that often.
