IU life is not determined by how many copys the units have done, but on rotation of the iu's. eg when the machine goes into stabalization the iu's are turning so it is using up the 'life' of the image units.
To get more out of the image unts try doing longer runs of copying/printing, and increase the length of time before the machine goes to sleep or better still turn off the sleep timer.

In one of the firmware upgrades I think it was the phase 3 upgrade, they added a feature called "span". If you go into service mode and select Image Process adjustment, then select stabilizer you should see at the bottom span1 and span2, select span 2. It doesn't allow the machine to stabilize as often as span one, which will extend the IU life to a point. If you don't see the span 1 and 2, you will need to update the firmware!
