Replaced some old computers with new reinstalled (ftp..etc) ...now scanning doesn't work. I remember something about having to delete a "ghost registry" before the making new computer work for a old one touch scanning...make sense??

if the computers are running Windows XP you will have the install IIS snap-in and setup a virtual directory to show the path of the intended destination folder

why not just use FTP utility? so long as it's running ftp will work.

just install any ftp server, set it right, check the IP addresses and it will work. It has nothing to do with the registry.
