    C-E301 on C454e, C554

    Hi Guys

At a bit of a dead end here and wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. Below i have a detailed description of the problem and what i have done to sort it temporarily. The temp fix i got was from tech specialist at konica minolta milton keynes uk. Its a bit lengthy so apologies in advance.

Here are my findings with relation to the above code at one of our customers. Please note this occurred on all 3 x c454e machines on the same network at one customer location at the same time. Customers are printing the same documents (mostly adobe and adobe illustrator) as they always have and no new changes have been made to the network, drivers etc. the drivers are all uptodate.

When scanning to smb the error code pops up immediately and the notice states that the “machine will reboot itself to rectify the problem”. The job list states under “details” that the reason it failed was due to “forward tx error”. On the server side a file with the correct filename appeared in the folder BUT it was a 0kb file and could not be opened. The issue arises only when connected to the network and receiving print jobs and scanning to SMB (scan to email not in use in this environment so unsure if that’s affected). When in idle the code does not appear. The machines also intermittently reboot themselves and didn't wake up when prints were sent to it, this relates to a known SSD issue. I had to switch sleep mode off and change the low power setting from “immediately” to “normal”. This sorted the problem out but again its not a long term fix. All of the machines fall into the serial number category that is affected by the SSD issue. There is a red sticker on the serial number on the rear of all the machines. Users can print intermittently, I am not yet sure what specific files are causing the issue but most of them are using adobe reader and adobe illustrator. I tested the scan to smb on a Konica C654 that was in the print room at the same customer, this machine was totally unaffected and was printing and scanning to smb as per normal.

    Here's what i did.

All machines reacted the same way to changes and were exhibiting the same symptoms.
My first step I performed a trouble reset and re-flashed the firmware with C8 which it already had on and no change in result.
I then checked the connections on the board and reseated the memory modules, no change.
Then I updated the firmware from C8 to G20-E4 as per official procedure with usb stick and this too had no effect to the issue.
I then logically formatted the hdd’s and uploaded the relevant movie data. This sorted the machines and I was able to scan to smb again and print successfully. This lasted for about half an hr after I left site yesterday then the scanning stopped working intermittently. I had tested the machines thoroughly before leaving. This morning scanning failed on all machines and the error code was intermittently popping up when the machines started receiving print jobs. Basically the issue was back in full force.
I then tried to update the SSD firmware to 6.03, this was already up to date as i had done it a few months prior.
Konica hardware line was extremely difficult to get hold of for support. There were no details I could find on this issue on infohub, Konica ftp or my other resources. Eventually my colleague managed to get hold of konica tech specialist and suggested updating firmware to latest (E4) and changing the IP address of the machine to something different to what the machines were using. This worked and for the last day or two the error has not returned. Scan to smb immediately started working again. So far the issue has been sorted but I don’t think this is a long term fix and Konica will need to release a bulletin and or firmware to stop this from happening.

Because the machines were exhibiting the known SSD issue and now this new issue with the error code, I think ssd and/or mfp board replacements would be a better long term fix but im clutching at straws here. i have read on this forum that boards and hdd's have been replaced with no change to this error code.

any advice or things for me to try would be greatly appriciated. we have had a few more customers reporting the same issue recently of non e machines and e machines. i have list prints that i can upload if that helps.

    thanks

    matt

Wondering what you did to fix this problem E-03? I'm getting the same code on a 454e less than a year old.
    Thanks,
    Terry

There's been multiple versions of special firmware released in the last few months to fix many instances of E-30x.

This code seems to be "fixed" in just about every firmware release. My advice would be mirror the port and wire shark it when scanning. This will at least give you a more detailed breakdown of what is happening. Since this is happening on all 3 devices and started up around the same time, I wouldn't think it's a hardware issue. Here are a few more questions for you..

1 Where are these scans going? Server, desktop? What OS
    2. If scanning to a server, were there any MS updates applied or IT changes around the same time?

Seems like a security issue since you can see the PDF arrive, but contains 0 bites. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

Happend to me on 4series when I enabled smb server option in order to share public folder on machine HDD.
Mainly Mac user were on the network, error occurs when some users try to print something...they don't use scan to smb but scan to e-mail and scan to box. FWs K6 and K9.

Since I disabled smb server option error code never came back again. Hope this helps someone.

I have a good amount of success with turning off ssdp under network settings. I would have machines pop that code just being idle on the network. Turned that setting off and i havent had a machine pop a code for about 4 days now. Ive tried it on the 4, e and 8 series. Hope this helps someone
