Kyocera FS-2100DN Fuser
Is it possible to adjust the temperature on this model either on the machine its self or via driver?
We have a client who is using a very old letter head, and when they print on it with a Ecosys P2135dn the letter head smears across the paper. So we are trying to figure out what model we can use that wont cause this problem. They have already told us that they have no plans of changing the paper or letter head they are using now.
Have you tried running it as a heavier stock ?
i have tried a few heavier paper settings but nothing seems to do anything. I was about to try maybe transparency paper settings. Maybe the fuser doesn't get as hot on that setting?Originally Posted by tmaged
If it's not fusing, you need it hotter more than likely. Unless there is some sort of odd finish to the paper. Changing the settings usually either
changes the speed or temperature (or both) to be able to fuse the toner into heavier paper. This would be more desirable than changing the settings
through simulations.
It's not the toner that's running. It's the pre-printed letter head graphics that once they hit the fuser they smear on the paper.
Rubber based pre-print. There is no way to stop it except to use the stock in a ink jet.
You could try setting the envelope lever to the up position to relieve fuser pressure. That may limit the smearing.
It sounds like a raised thermographic letterhead, almost like plastic.
The lever is inside the rear door on the left side.
I do agree that it will be difficult to get it to stop.
The printer will run at a slower speed with the lever in the envelope position.

addendum:
If this is a P2135 I am unsure if it has an envelope lever. the 2100 does.
I had a customer that used to run all his own letterhead on a Sharp Bear, then run the black & white text on a Sharp Dragon. The Bear fuses at ~160C, and when it goes through the Dragon the toner would get stringy like taffy at the Dragons 180C fusing temperature.
It a similar situation. There's nothing to be done. =^..^=

1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
