FalconII interesting copies

Most of you have seen variations on this theme, but I though this one was especially interesting. The previous tech replaced the entire maintenance kit and the problem remained. Yet it was still a primary charge related problem.

I didn't bother to rotate the photo, but this sample fed LTR. There are not voids, so I was pretty certain even from the pix sent by the other tech. In this case the drum drive coupler was not springing back, even on the new drum unit. An old habit I learned on the whole series (Falcon I/II/III/IV) was to apply 2 or 3 drops of oil to the drum drive coupler any time it came into view, and make sure it springs back. When the old drum is ready for replacement (in this case 469K) the drum coupler is almost certainly seized. The new one was also sticky.

The drum ground is transferred through this coupler, and if it's not making a good connection, you have a poor drum ground. I just thought it was interesting. Note: the pattern repeats at 96mm intervals (not the drum circumference).

Additionally it caused blurry looking scans to email. I don't think the main PWB liked all that arcing. =^..^=

We have never seen this problem before, has it been common where you are at? I will be adding your idea of a drop of oil on that drum drive to our check list.
