    Yellow lines Kyocera (utax) 5550ci

Morning all, just putting this out there to see if anyone can shed any light on a problem I am having on a Utax 1950 (kyocera 5550ci)

I am getting repeating yellow lines (vertical) printed on A4 portrait paper, just yellow, all other colours are fine, the firmware is up to date, I have tried a new yellow dev and done all relevent adjustments, swapped the drum round with another drum from the machine, the fault never changed after anything i did, very strange. In a set of 10 prints, first couple are fine, then it appears, always pretty uniform, some worse than others.

I have attached a example, sorry about the quality, didn`t show too well on a scan, so had to take a picture.

    Any advice appreciated. cheers.IMG_3221.JPG

The transfer belt may also be causing this if the transfer roller for yellow (located within the transfer belt assembly) is the cause. I would inspect the drive gears to yellow dev and yellow drum. Yellow laser lastly but unlikely. Good luck. Yes usually the drum will resolve it.

I'm going to guess that you swapped drums around, but kept the same yellow primary charge in the yellow slot. This is the typical demonstration of a bad primary roller. The repeating interval is 38mm. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

mag roller is 39mm. bring both drum and dev. just in case.

hi, thanks for the replies guys, i went back the next day armed with a new drum and the new dev, but the copies were perfect, customer said that it hadn`t come back since we were there, we took all the units out anyway and cleaned all contacts etc, over a week later and it hasn`t returned! very strange.

Blackcat, I swapped the charge first, didnt change the fault, swapped the charges back, and then swapped the drums, I agree it looks charge related, was just odd that nothing changed the fault.

Thanks again guys, ill keep you updated if anything changes. :-)

Had one doing that with magenta background. Tried new DV unit & drum etc. Like you, pulling everything out & cleaning it really good did the trick.
    Hope that helps !

I've seen lines like that on the b/w machines and it turned out to be the developer. Resetting the values in the maintenance mode to the initial setting helps sometimes, other times we have to replace the developer.
