Fax's still printing on forward

So I have a 5500i replacing a 5050, fax forward is set up with print to off and an SMB folder.

The customer atm is at random getting faxes to both print and land in folder, but not every single time. Is there some mechanism that is overriding the print off feature? I have been on site tested it, it land in folder with no print, then 5 minutes later get a print & scan file.

Maybe the machine thinks the SMB is inaccessible or full?

does the copier have a failsafe to print when SMB fails to send?

They claimed the 5050 never had this issue, so I just dont know if a new fail-safe got implemented AFTER the 5050 thats in this machine to print when SMB fails, or if there is a technical issue with the fax board or the mainframe.

I was hazarding a guess. We do have this model in the field but fax is dead and we very rarely do it anymore. When we do it's fax forwarding to email rather than SMB. Why not set up email and do fax forwarding that way as a little test. If it still dumps out the occasional print you can ignore what I previously said and start looking at firmware or something.

From my experience, when you setup fax forwarding and enable fax printing too, it does forwarding first and than starts printing. In case it fails to deliver the document to folder, print cannot be completed untill someone at the device confirms it.

In your case there could be some problems with fax line or settings causing that delay.
