    FS3640 Dead Fax

Never experienced a dead fax like this.

No dial tone, TX fails almost immediately. RX processing lights flash for about 10 seconds then fails.

    I've done:

Verify phone line good with handset

    Reseated Fax board

    Initialized Fax

    Flashed Firmware

I got a fax board on order but I'm leaning towards Main PWB but that's backordered at the moment.

    Any thoughts? Thanks

If it's a digital phone system, make sure there are no voice mail messages unanswered.

just a thought here. Did you try a handset to the fax line ?. With fax issues, i always want to verify the line is working at least with a handset. voip is another case.
we have replaced dead fax board on these machines, but only a few and we have lots of these machines, real workhorses these little mfp's.

I am thrilled to hear you've replaced the fax board before. That must be it.

And yes, testing with a handset was the first thing i mentioned, lol

Just a word here about fax. In the past 5 yrs, probably replaced three fax pwb, so when i say a few i mean minute. I tend to doubt its the fax pwb whenever i got fax calls and it usually turned out to be line problem, number, data corruption on fax pwb or fax foward issues ect. u600 is the first thing i do with kyocera, which you did i think. Since it's two screws to remove the fax pwb, i would remove it and test it in your shop first, if that is an option for you.

My apology. You did mention you used a hand set in your initial post.

I would try switching exchange settings. U660 -> Exchange -> Switch from PSTN (default) to PBX, and test it.
