    Copystar fs6525mfp/error code 246

    Hi
I m getting Error 246 .I dowmloaded new firmware on flash .I followed directions to upgrade firmware
1-Turn machine Off and then on
2-I wait till machine goes into ready and I turn off machine again
    3-I plug flash into machine
    4-I turn machine back on.
I wait a few minutes each time I have tried this but nothing happens(as though not recognizing flash)
Machine just goes back INTO READY WITH ERROR CODE
Does anyone know if I'm not upgrading firmware correctly.
THIS IS FIRST TIME I TRIED THIS SO I MAY BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. \
Any help would really be appreciated
    THANKS ANDY

Could it be a CF246 or C0246? Kyocera error codes start with a "C" and typically have 5 characters. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Hi

anything to do with computers but I'm trying and hopefully not learning the hard way.

Try again. Kyocera error codes start with a "C" and have five characters.

Have you read the manual about the firmware upgrade procedure?
Are you using the correct model firmware?
Are you extracting the firmware to a folder on your PC?
Do you then copy the firmware files only to the root of the USB drive (no folder structure)?
Did you power OFF the MFP, insert the USB, then power ON?
    How long did you wait?

    Hi
YES I followed the procedure EXACTLY as you described it.I know I was to wait at least 50 seconds,I tried many times waiting at least 10 minutes,

but the machine acts just as though flash is not inserterd in machine.
    THANKS BLACKCAT

An error is detected at the System management section. DDR2 memory check. A certain part of the memory may be faulty. The frequency of failure occurrence is dependent on the frequency of access to the faulty bit. The ASIC may be faulty if the memory is not.

    1) Reseat or repl DDR2 memory; 2) Reformat HDD U024 FULL; 3) Initialize backup memory U021; 4) Repl main PWB; 5) Repl HDD;

Firmware can take as much as 45 minutes, depending on how corrupt the current firmware is. Wait longer.

How big of a drive are you using? The firmware is only 124MB, so you could use a drive as small ar 250MB. The smallest drive possible is preferred. =^..^=
