KM 2550 Blank area in center of Copies only

Hey Guy's,

Have had three machines produce a 2 inch wide blank area in the center of the page when copying only (internal prints and external print jobs are fine)
This can be intermittant or a hard fault.

We know it cannot be anything to do with the engine and must be optical.
I have read quite a few forums regarding this fault and have noticed the blue film on the center of the mirrors which I am not fully convinced is the whole story.

Has anybody got to the bottom of this as I have had another machine produce this fault today.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Just the basic facts...can you show me where it hurts?

Does it happen from the glass, from the feeder or both?
Need to eleminate something somewhere.

I've had the same problem. You do a smc report and this eliminates the engine side and as you say their is a blue haze on the optics. All I’ve done is cleaned it with a glass cleaner and so far so good but I’m possibly thinking it might be ozone but without looking at the machine or the parts manual I don’t know if it has a fan or filter by the upper left side that might need replacing.

I'm thinking that even with a blue haze on the optic there should still be enough light reflected back to the ccd to produce some image even light image but if there is no image a void of image I would think it would have to be the ccd that is causing the problem since you said printing an internal report prints out ok but not from the scanner (copyboard or doc feeder) that is where I would start.
