Kyocera 3500i charge roller?

I am in the process of cleaning up a 3500i with 247k on it. Bad CQ. Thought I would start by thorough cleaning. First time I saw this machine. I noticed the charge roller needed cleaning (rotational lines on it). When I was cleaning it I noticed round circles on it (kind of like they were embedded or burned). Also when I was wiping the charge roller, I felt bumps on it. I have never experienced this before so I thought I would ask the more experienced. Has anyone here seen this and is it common?

That's one of the new features on the Alphard I and Alphard II technology. Those little bumps will arc to the drum, making pinholes, and eventually those cool arachnid shapes we all know and love. If you don't have pinholes yet, you may be able to replace only the main charge roller. As you probably suspect, all the cleaning in the world won't remove the bumps. If you've got pinholes, you'll need the drum unit, which includes both the drum and main charge.

Kyocera never really managed to get those chargers right. Make sure you have some spare around since they rarely last the drum life.
