    5501i shifting image

I have a 5501i that occasionally, and I mean very occasionally, will shift the copied image 4 inches up the page (towards the back of the machine). It seems to occur only on copies or scans through the doc feeder. All trays are affected, and all pages in a job. I have seen it happen once, and the tray and doc feeder were registering the proper size. A month or so ago, it threw a C 9000 error (DP Comm error). I flashed the machine and didn't think much of it till now. Kyo tech support said maybe bad DIMMS, but I'm leaning towards DP main PWB. Thought I would see if anyone has an opinion on this before I start stabbing in the dark with parts orders.

Very common! Here is the database record:

Scanned original image is cut off on Letter R originals only. Resulting PDF image was scanned as 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" statement-R. Scan to email. Original tray width sensor incorrectly reads original width. Clean the brush and detection PWB, and apply conductive grease to the brush.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Re: 5501i shifting image

Size detection board should cut off, not shift up the image. I'd go with DIMM's as well. If it was the second side on a single pass feeder, then ADF pwb. The machine is doing the processing of the front side image, so the adf is just transporting the document through.
    Hope that helps !
