Are you referring to scanning to one folder and having multiple users have access to the file? Or are you referring to scanning a document and having it sent to multiple folders? The first instance is a function of the operating system and not controlled by the machine. If it is the second case look at the File Management Utility to setup scan distribution You could also create a "group" for the scan that would send it to multiple destinations. File sharing is not a function of the unit but the operating system.Originally Posted by CCS
I think what he means is that on Toshiba devices there is a default scan option to scan to the HDD of the MFP to a folder called file_share. This file is viewable without username or password from any PC on the network. It's a quick and painless way to have scanning with virtually no setup. These boxes have a 3 day default clear, so that documents that are still in the box after 72 hours are automatically deleted, so the MFP HDD does not fill up with crap. To access the folder enter this destination in the Run dialog box Run: \\MFPhostname\file_share\ then Enter. If you want to go crazy, you can set up a shortcut on the endusers desktop to that destination.
You can set up scanning to a Document Box on the HDD of Kyocera products, but it's not quite as painless. You have to set up recipient document box(es), which may or may not have a password (as you desire). These document boxes can then be viewed, edited, documents copied or removed, from the Command Center. And these boxes do not have any auto delete function, so it is possible to fill your MFP's HDD with old documents that noone will ever look at again. Look up Document Boxes in the Operators Manual.

Oh, and I usually advise that endusers do not use the MFP's HDD for long term document storage, especially with Toshiba's. The Wipe Drives have a notoriously short life. =^..^=
