have you tried replacing the magenta and black develeper units,this looks like problems i have seen on other kyocera models
Not yet. I am going back this week with a laser unit from a shop machine and try that first. If that doesn't work I will look at dev units. All dev units are new though. Although I'm new to Kyocera I just don't know if 2 or more dev units would be bad out of PM kit. But again I'm new.
Pulled laser from shop machine. Cleaned it up and installed in on Machine in field. Works great.
I did open the bad one from field machine when I got back to shop. It was obvious the problem was polygon mirror motor needed cleaning.

The trail edge of the polygon motor will get dust built up resulting in what you experienced, even if they're sealed relatively well.
It's always light on the front frame side as the polygon must spin counterclockwise.
I've cleaned quite a few 5500i & 6500i's as well.
