Gray tone on whole areas of page DV-350 DV-352 Developer Units
Hi to all techs!
We are experiencing a strange issue with some of our Kyocera and Trimph-Adler printers. These machines are equiped with DV-350 and DV-352 type developer units. Not too long ago they started printing out pages with a very light graytone where there was supposed to be simple white surface. Our team suspects that these DV units may be the cause. We cleaned them thoroughly and added new toner, but it made no difference. I've tried scanning a sample but the graytone area isn't visible on the scan.
If any of you has encountered such an issue before please relate.
Respect to all,
GOA

it sounds like a charge/bias voltage issue to me

What kind of new toner you added? OEM or 3rd party? In case you always used oem toner in those DV's, it's time to replace them. The age gets to some of them and it usually throws light gray background on either left or right half of the paper. There is no cure there but to replace it with a new one.

We've had the same problem with OEM & aftermarket both. Sometimes the main charge is the cause, but most of the time replacing the DV unit will fix it. You can always try cleaning the main charge first.

We useaftermarket toner, unfortunately the cost of the OEM is too high in our region. Please correct me if I'm wrong: the main charger by my knowledge is the roller located in the middle of the machine (the gray one) or are you refering to the magnetized roller of the DV unit?
Sorry for all these most probably obvious questions, I am new to the profession, I still have much to learn.
Thank you

yes, that roller should be black color, if it's grey clean it carefully with alcohol or replace it. As for the Generic toner and Asian paper "garbage in garbage out"!

Re: Gray tone on whole areas of page DV-350 DV-352 Developer Units
I've cleaned the main charger (the one sitting above the OPC drum) also cleaned the soft grey roller (ROLLER REGIST UP) and the brush (DC BRUSH ASSY), took apart the Dv unit cleaned the sidebearings, put it back together, it looked like a new piece, unfortunately nothing has changed: the page is still grey, and I noticed that te DV unit's magnetic roller is covered in certain areas with thicker layers of toner, and those are visible on the printed page.
Thank you all for the help, I am really greatful for all your insights and advice.
