    3550ci J6000

    Hi

Have a CS 3550ci with a DF-790 ( 4K sheet finisher) More often than not and Only in the morning and only the first page, it will jam ( B tray). The paper exists the copier about 2 inches, but never makes it to the finisher entrance switch. However , once cleared the copier will work for the entire day without any problems.

    We have tried :
    Different finisher
    Reloaded firmware
    New style exit assembly .
    New style tray,center assembly
Disassembled, cleaned and lubed the AK drive section

    Any thoughts

    Thanks Much
    Geo

Neither of these records exactly matches your code, but may be of help to you anyway:

Misfeeds (5011, 5018, 5001), entering the finisher. Bridge unit left sensor return spring is disconnected. Re-position return spring for BRCS2.

Misfeeds (J6301, J6111) in the finisher entrance every time. Finisher guide D1 is left down, making the finisher door difficult (but not impossible) to close. Close finisher guide D1.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

When you say new style exit assembly, are you talking machine exit or AK exit ? I've had a number of machines with different finisher jams. Like you, I did everything I could think of. Replacing the AK exit section is what remedied all of them. The new units use bearings rather than brass bushings. I had even cleaned & oiled the brass bushings. The bushings slow the pages down enough that you'll get different codes.

    Hope that helps !

    Hi
It's the AK exit ass'y, it was replaced with the new style ( roller bearings) . Unfortunately their was no change.
The puzzling part is that it only happens after sitting overnight/weekend and only on the first page out ...but not every morning.

    Thanks

Had a similar problem with a canon years ago. Turned out to be condensation. After sitting all night in a frigid building the fixing unit would heat up and soak the exit ass'y. After the first jam was removed it dried it out enough to get the rest through without incident. It is grasping at a straw, but maybe you're up against something like that.

hey Geo.. same issue here.. mines a 3500i...J6000 only in the morning!
    did you solve this?
could it be the Machine exit unit? (as youve already upgraded the AK Exit unit with the buttery smooth bearing vs bushings!)

    thx!
have a great day in the battlezone
