    FS-1028 ADF not feeding

It looks like the ADF switches are ok.
Open top cover - message to close cover.
Open adf off glass - message to close adf.
original in adf - message to remove original (after open top cover and close.

ADF roller is down and doesn't lift, and when I run copy it scan from the glass and doesn't feed the original.

    Any idea?

I have the service manual but there is nothing there in regard to the ADF troubles. (ADF=Document processor).

if I remember correctly ... there should be a separate manual for the ADF.

I've seen where the "spring clutching mechanism" for the adf will either be out of position, or the plastic tab that it pushes against will break out, causing the spring to not load up and retract the feed assy. let me know if I can clarify, I'm in a bit of a crunch right now.
If you phrase your inquiry properly, you will get the answers you seek...

Good Luck ... You'll need it! HAHAHA!

You most likely have a bad wiring harness as previously posted. If the user is constantly opening and closing the ADF the harness connecting to the main unit has developed a bad wire connection. The problem seems to be the wire hold down in the adf restricts the harness movement too much and stresses the connection in the connector to the main unit. On setup we remove the wire hold down in the adf and snip the ty-rap on the harness to allow the wires to move freely. Since instituting this procedure we have reduces adf failures by at least 50%.
