Thumbs up takalpha 650C fuer drive problemm

Very loud fuser drive noise. Repaired fuser and changed fuser drive gear 8H30-8 which is in direct engagement with fuser unit . Teeth were worn down. Ran machine and still noise but not nearly as bad. Fuser was free. Removed fuser and turned green handle while holding new drive gear. There is still a drive issue from fuser drive unit in rear of machine.
Customer was upset that I had not diagnosed problem on fuser drive unit and chased me out. Did not get a chance to remove rear cover and open system case to access fuser drive unit. Does one or more of those gears get damaged along with the gear I changed.
I am arranging with customer to go back and complete job and would like any assistance anyone has to offer regarding this problem. i think I am on right track but would like some input from someone with experience on this. Your help is appreciated very much. I have not been paid anything yet and already have an investment in parts and time.Frank

I have felt your pain. When we had these machines this was a common problem. I would replace the gears that were worn and I would put some grease on the shafts to reduce the noise.

This machine a horribe, short-lived Frankenstein between Kyocera and Toshiba. I feel for ya, Frank.

The problem you have now is that 1) the fuser drive isn't sold as a pack 2) the customer won't let you re-diagnose the machine

Looks like you need to order all the gears. Do you have the manual? I can give the pertinent pages if needed.

That's my recommendation, axyun. Install the eS6520C fuser drive pack. There are nearly a dozen gears, clutches, and bushings that wear. I could make you a list, sure ... but, until you get it disassembled you won't know which ones. I keep a rebuilt unit in the car for such purposes (and consequently know exactly which parts were installed right at the beginning), but I imagine that you don't see them often enough to justify that. Most of the Toshy guys just carry a new assembly.

They tend to be noisy, but you know that. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thank you guys for the great input. The best course of action for me is to
get the whole fuser drive assembly, especially due tom lack of experience
    on this machine.
I see the part# is 6LJ08828000. If I am incorrect, please correct me.
Now togged good prices seethes could be expensive, especially after
    repairs on fuser unit.
I see in service manual that after removing rear cover I would need to
remove systen board cover anodyne case after disconnecting a few connectors.

This is all if the customer agreess to additional cost of fuser drive unit. Thanks again to all. Will keep you posted,Frank

It's surprisingly easy to get to.

There are 4 or 5 connectors that must be removed. With the covers off the cage box, and 4 or 5 more screws, you can swing the board assembly to the right out of your way. You'll have to remove the covers from the door side, the green knob and bracket, the fuser, maybe 6 screws, then the drive assembly comes out.

If it were me, I'd keep the core, and make a list of the worn components. Especially watch the bushings. They'll oval out to the point of cutting into the side frames. Clean the parts that you want to keep in orange solvent and toothbrush. When you re-assemble use a slightly heavier oil, like 30 straight weight motor oil, since it gets warm near the fuser. No oil on the clutch please. Now you have a rebuilt assembly for the next occasion.

Also....if entire assembly is required, purchase the Toshiba drive unit; it is less than half the cost of the Kyo drive.......
