I have a CS-255 with totally black copies. The maint report prints out fine. Is it the scan assly or board? The lamp is on when scanning.

Replace the eng board
Are there voids on your totally black copies? How about U089 Sample Set?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If the maintenance report prints out fine, then it is not a print engine problem but a scanning issue. Just because the lamp is on does not mean that the scanning for copying is working properly. You failed to mention if the black copies occur from both the document processor and the glass? How about scanning a page to a network folder or to a usb drive? Is it still all black?
Try an EEPROM on the main bd...
that worked for me once, black copies yet fine prints.
It was the main brd. I ended up buying a used CS-305 for less money than having the board repaired. Thanks everyone.
