I went to a customer's site.. they were unable to print or scan due to a mess of faxes stuck on the machine...
after trial and error I got the faxes to print on the bypass... by making it default in the settings...
I found that if faxes were coming in then the fax machine would shoot an error message... if bypass was not default...
this occurred if tray 1 and 2 were full...
tray 1 and two had long edge letter in one and short edge letter in the other
tray 1 and two had the long and short edge switched...
the machine was reset
the fax board was reset
I am headed back tomorrow
to do the following... with a senior tech...
step 1. check country code...
step 2. verify that the machine is not set in service mode to force printing to bypass
step 3. clear all fax settings with both fax reset codes
step 4. perform a 906
step 5. perform a 163
step 6. verify that system menu fax settings is not overriding anything
step 7. check the copier web access page to verify that all settings are ok
step 8. install firmware
step 9. backup settings and reformat hard drive restore hard drive and restore settings
hopefully after that I can swap out the fax board...
I am checking with my benevolent betters to see if there is anything that I am missing...
I am also wondering if anyone faced a similar issue on any kyocera and what was there solutions...
with kyocera... problems and solutions tend to repeat themselves...
thanks again...
