P6035CDN Coloured Bands instead of status page

Has anyone seen this fault before? That is what we are getting instead of a status page.

    P6035_Sample.jpg

If you print a font list, you get the same thing without the colour bands across the page.

Tried reseating the drum, devs and transfer belt.

There only been 2 recent calls, 1 for C1010, tray lift problem and for streaks on the prints, this was caused by the black dev seal coming off and wrapping round a drum. Its been removed and the prints before this fault were fine. The lack of dev seal couldn't be the cause, could it?

    Thanks

    James

No it's a charge loss of some sort, which I can't say. Could be primary, primary transfer, secondary transfer, or developer bias (any one of the charges). Usually it's associated with a pairing of drum and developing unit.

If you have the four developing units and a drum, I think that I'd start swapping the new drum unit into the four possible locations one at a time. If you see it clear up, replace the associated developing unit also. If it doesn't clear up start installing the developing units one at at time, etc, etc.

There isn't much cyan in that image. I'd make my first guess cyan. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

When this happens it is generally caused by a chip in one of the drums. This will cause a short that produces these random looking edge to edge bands you are experiencing.

Check all 4 drums (my guess is it is the K drum due to the sample) and replace it if damaged.

We have swapped the K drum with other drums and the fault didnt change at all. Will have a closer look.

We have had this a few times it turned out to be one of the main charge arcing so check all drum chargers are sitting right.

you will be able to hear the chirping of the HV power supply when this is happening. I've only had it happen to two machines in the last few years, and replacing a drum/charger solved it... don't remember which color. That HV supply must not have very much current-supply capability! The 3010i/3510i can do it too.

    Hi
    Just an update on this.

We have tried, albeit a used black drum into it, which made no difference.

The colour print is the same, mono prints are as below.

You can just make out some white text on that page, in the grey background.

Have lifted the machine to the workshop for a better look, before throwing parts at it.

Re: P6035CDN Coloured Bands instead of status page

I have a Ta266ci with the exact same issue. I have tried a new ITB but no joy. Also swapped the drum units around. I was going to order the CMY devs?

Weird thing is it will work ok with black copies and prints, bands will only appear on colour. Must be a arc on the charge somewhere......
