    Taskalfa 8000i Duplex Jams

    Hi guys,
I need help in my machine. It is doing okay with single side copying from any paper source also doing 2 sided copying from all paper source but only up to 3 pages output only i.e. ( one 2-sided original into 3 copies only ).
the problem comes when you request more than 3 copies, the fourth paper z-folds at the registration roller with the first copy out already and the other two in the duplex unit. this only happens when using A4 portrait,
with A4 landscape setting from cassette machine works fine even duplex copying multiple originals and multiple sets. please any suggestions will be highly appreciated....
    thank you...

What jam codes are you getting, normally the reverse gate above fuser can bind and cause jamming, also try cleaning duplex rollers and see if it makes a difference, those rollers can worn and also cause duplex jams j44xx, I think the reverse gate usually gives a j42xx from memory

    Hi thanks for the reply,
The jam code i am getting are 1313 and 1314 using paper decks 3 and 4 but as mentioned earlier using A4 landscape from tray 2 is okay. Dismantled and cleaned the duplex unit as well....

The 1313 and 1314 jam codes point to the middle sensor (MS) which resides just above the tray #4 vertical path. It probably has nothing particular to do with duplexing, that's just the function that you happen to be using.

The clutches are a good place to start. There are four clutches that provide the drive to the tray #3/#4 feed section, part # 302KV44041. When you get it torn apart I think you'll find that those clutches have begun making rust dust. Cleaning those clutches won't help. How many pages printed from trays #3 and #4? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

most common culprit for this issue is the clutch on the roller just below the registration roller. Not worth going after it unless you have a new one on you, and make sure you leave some slack in the wire connected to the clutch.

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt

Be sure that you have the brake pads installed per "birchcourt" TSB...These ohh so well engineered clutch's have a wonderful propensity to run on and will cause your Z-fold , especially with wear. . This typically shows up first when duplexing.

    Cheers.

Had the same issue on an 8001i, changed the feed drive unit and registration clutch, problem solved. As blackcat mentioned clutches were rusted, same issue occurs with all the clutches on these machines (i.e. bypass and duplex).
