office 356 scanning 4500i
Hi. Iam trying to set up scanning to office 365. Its my understanding that one of the options is I dont have to use authentication.( i believe they are using relay) So their server ip is registered on office365 and being used to authenticate.
I have port 25. Start TLS and smtp.office365.com no authentication. The question is, do i need to be on customer premises for the domain/IP to authenticate ? Iam trying to set it up in my office and i get authentication error.
Thank you

Re: office 356 scanning 4500i
AFAIK, Office 365 and Gmail ALWAYS require authentication.... and using either port 465 or 587 depending on SSL or TLS encryption. With email providers trying to block spammers, a lot of them have pretty much BLOCKED port 25!
Find out what email address the customer is using for the machine, and get the credentials for it plugged into the copier... I think you'll see the authentication error go away.
Good luck,

How to set up a multifunction device or application to send email using Office 365 - Office 365
Generally, if you send without authentication, it's to your own domain only. It shouldn't need to physically be on their domain, though.
