    Replace the developer unit (DV-7105).

Is there a way to test if the developer unit is faulty, as I don't have a spare one around and it will be a waste of money if I get a new one and still won't fix the problem

Dev unit should have a 3 year warranty if your a dealer or maintenance kit has been installed under the Kyocera warranty

Only way to test is to install in another machine.

Perhaps, try to clean any and all build-up and debris from the developer mag roller and other surfaces of the developer, to prevent charge from draining.
