    KM 3035 image issue

This machine has been a work horse , the toner was changed two weeks ago, and now this, does it need a 400k maint kit , or is it a voltage issue and it now a boat anchor..?

before i go and purchase a kit and chargde the client, i would like to know if this is a common thing for these machines when they are at almost 650 k

There is a problem with your charge corona. It could be shorting out because it's just really dirty or maybe the grid is touching the corona housing. I've had this happen many times, it's never been anything serious.

Change the main corona, the ends of yhe grid get covered with toner and short out.
You can try a cheap test, remove the grid, remove the plastic on the end by the handle. Clean it all, and put the plastic back, and a little scotch tape on top. Put back the grid, reinsert in machine and try it.

I deal with those machines every day. Some machibes are close to a million copies.

Looking at your sample you have dots across the image, not a good sign. Most likely the shorting corona caused them and the only cure is a new drum assy. The corona assembly must be cleaned at every toner change per Kyocera toner replacement instructions if not , the corona unit will short out and most likely ruin the drum.

    Sorry

Yeah, the dots are a bad sign. Those are places where the primary has arced to the drum, damaging it. Looking at the drum surface you would never know it. If you have paper long enough to show it you'll see a pattern in the dots at 127.6mm intervals, one drum circumference. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Be sure to clean the filters on the right side of the machine after replacing the main charge. One is visible when opening the MP door and the other requires removing the right cover.
