Kyocera 3551 Set up to Scan

I am trying to start to learn how to set this machine up to scan. I am not an IT guy and need to know where to start. What manuals I can use.

Start with the basics, a notepad and pen, get a basic understanding of the language of networking, smtp, ftp, ports, host names, paths, etc. Learn how to create a folder on a PC and how to create sharing options. At first, just like anything, it seems a little overwhelming, but keep plugging away. It was simpler on Windows 7 but Windows 10 has made some changes, research Windows 10 set up scanning to smb (share everything, advanced sharing and to everyone). I took home an older machine and spent some time on learning to set up scan address and folders on the PC. Each manufacturer is different as far as setting up from the copier side, same basic but PC is basically all the same basic premise. I broke it down to two sides computer than copier. Google, YouTube and good old fashion hands on experience were the way I learned... I still learn something new all time. Just when you think you have it figured out, boom PC's virus protection or server lock-down won't allow it to scan.

That's been the biggest issue for me: Ports closed or Firewall/Antivirus blocking the communication, at the computer side. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

when setting up a kyocera to scan i use ftp server filezilla. but it's a long process to setup and give all of the correct permissions. plus you run into the issue of antivirus or 3rd party firewalls blocking it for whatever reason. though you can go into the windows firewall and create permissions. plus you have to tell the customer to always allow filezilla to run. if they close it it won't work. it took several times for someone to explain to me the actual full setup process, it ain't easy. good luck.

Not to add to your woes Blackcat, but we have noticed in the last six months accounts that run in a domain server environment and have a password expiration longer than 90 days get randomly locked out! Even the domain Administrator! We have tried researching the MS updates to discover any notification of a change with no luck. What I find weird is that as a network admin, I could use my credentials to log onto my machine and have full network access [both user and computer credentials are authenticated against the domain server] but could not log onto the server, I would get an account locked notification when I did. This also affected my ability to scan to a folder on my machine as everything is authenticated against the domain server. Using another admin account to reset the password corrected everything which leads me to believe that MS is forcing a 90 day or less password policy? That could really pose a problem with many of my major accounts. Just last week a major customer's IT admins discovered scan folders for hundreds of machines that have been setup for years were no longer accessible even by them. Simply resetting the password to what it already was corrected the situation. Woe is we who have to discover this the hard way.
