TASKalfa 356ci, Horizontal thick colored lines

    Good morning,

the machine was working fine for 3 weeks. It's a new setup machine.
After a paper jam in fuser unit, the customer noticed that the paper jammed and the one following had only horizontal thick colored lines (see attached file).

Has anyone see this problem again?

    Thank you in advanced

    I like it!

You probably have a single developing unit shorting to the drum and shutting down the high voltage unit. That arcing usually damages the drum of the same color. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Hey blackcat and
I took a look at developer and drum unit -mostly the mc roller- but I didn't find any damage, at least visually.
I have seen before -in other machines- deep scratches on developer units occured by arc of the mc roller.
Is there any possibility that the transfer belt occurs this problem?

It's possible ... but less likely. Any of the high voltages arcing can knock out the HVT, but it's usually a broken developer spacer, allowing the developer bias to short to the drum. =^..^=

Thanks for the info. I will check the spacer in each developer unit.
I' ll let you know when the problem is being solved.

Re: TASKalfa 356ci, Horizontal thick colored lines

    Good morning blackcat4866,

I've checked all the developer units for damage and I saw none.
I tried to make a Status Page in B/W mode and the result was a solid black page.
I changed the black DK with the magenta DK and the result was the same (solid black).
The machine is a three week machine (brand new) and I don't want to "play" with customer and make him angrier than he already is. So I asked Kyocera help and they answered that
"Due to the image sample you sent I think the problem can be caused by no main charger voltage. One question to the print sample, are the colored lines are all over the whole page or do you see A white edge on the print sample ? If you see a white edge on print sample the cause should be the laser unit or controller board. if you see that the colored lines reach the edge of the paper you will probably have a problem with the drum charge."

So, blackcat4866, I'd like to ask you, if you allow me and I don't want you to take the responsibility for what you will answer me, what does he mean by telling if I'm seeing a white edge on the print sample? Is it not obvious when you see the sample that the color lines are not all over the whole page?

Thank you very much for your time.

I believe that tech support is asking whether you have image voids on the prints. I can probably answer that question for you: When you lose primary charge the bars run all the way to the edge of the paper, no voids.

Swapping around units probably will not help you diagnose this problem. Regardless of where the shorted out unit is positioned, it will still shut down the HVT. Ideally you'd have a donor that you could swap units with one at a time to find which one is shorted. =^..^=

    Good evening,

Problem solved. It was the MC Roller for the Yellow Drum.

    Everything is fine again.
