    3550idn c1010 cassette failure

As the title says, I have a c1010 headache. I checked the cassette, and connectors and everything is fine. Still a cassette error with 1010 codes. The motor lift appears to stall a little when I activate the switch.

I'm going to take a lift motor with me next time but I'm worried a gear or the frame may be busted. Any advice?

The gear post broke. You have to tear it apart.

Just replace with a ct-3100 cassette. It's spring loaded. Tell customer it was an update.

But it's just so much fun and an "experience" replacing the guide...especially in a cramped clients office.

Yeah, there isn't much left on the frame by the time you've got the part changed. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Glad I posted this. I didn't think to try the cassette with a spring. Thanks.

You have to wear a hair net face mask and large smock in a tiny little stinky office. Ripping apart the frame there is an absolute nightmare.

Then feel free to "like/thank" my post. Also be sure to snip off the little plastic nub on the left side of the ct-3100 or it won't slide in.

For those of you who have broken posts and need to replace the lower right frame to correct, you can try the following.
I have done this several times over the past 2 years and all our techs do it here where I work. All you need is a machine screw long enough to go through the frame and a T-nut(with the barbs flattened), and a drill. Works great and can be completed in a fraction of the time.
I hope it helps a few of you.

I waited to post that to see how well the fix worked over time. It performs very well. Just don't over-tighten the screw. It will click if you do. If you hear clicking when the tray raises, just turn the screw out a bit and re-tighten. I think the post may rotate inside some since it is broken and you can turn it back to where it was. also - the material is VERY THIN. Be sure to drill straight and remove the cross hatched reinforcement on the side where the T-nut goes in.

I like the idea. But the couple that I worked on, the post was shattered and none of the parts properly lined up. I can't imagine it working in that situation. =^..^=

I would have to agree that might not work in that situation. All those I worked on thus far, the post was sheered off. This corrected it with no difficulties encountered. Thanks for the input.
