    M3550 Knocking sound ?

Have a M3550 with a knocking sound. Not real loud, but don't trust it. Has almost new pm kit. And new dev. and reg. clutches. Runnng fine but knocking.
Not the fuser. Hard to pinpoint source. Drum, fuser, developer less than 10K. This machine runs 75k a month. This knocking noise has me frustated. ?????

Paper tray lift gear post broken? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Re: M3550 Knocking sound ?

I did see one machine ( can't remember if it was an M3550 but it was similar) that wouldn't knock during pre-drive if the drum or developer or toner wasn't in the machine. If you just left the toner out with everything else in place, it wouldn't knock during pre-drive. Put the toner in and the knock during pre-drive would be back.

Turned out to be the fuser. Apparently the fuser pressure doesn't engage until every component is detected. The knock was only present when the fuser pressure was engaged.

Could not locate 302LV24150 and 160 in the M3550 parts list.

    Re: M3550 Knocking sound ?

Solution was found in Drum assembly component of new PM kit ( 10k ). Turning too tight causing spring loaded drum coupling ratchet gear to slip and make noise. Thanks for input.( Will pay attention to reg. gears going forward also.)
