    4501i

This is a sky shot. Can this be the transfer belt? I swapped the Dev unit for testing and it didn’t make a difference. Transfer belts in my experience usually don’t go bad. This one has on it only 87k total copy count on machine is 767k with pm done at 600k. Any ideas?

If that interval is 37.5mm and it's LEF, I'm going with primary charge unit. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

fluorescent lights directly above the copier will cause similar issues with a sky shot. I would run a test image instead in service mode u89

I would do an internal test print.

I measured distance between repetition of defect and measured 44mm which according to the manual would be the transfer belt. MM089 looks the same the only reason I did a sky shot was to make it more visible. I admit there is one more test I should do. I’ll remove the charge roller and run a page. Without the charge roller I should get solid black. Until then I’m open to suggestions. Thanks to all.

If you remove charge roller you will probably get a error code

Craigster, You’re right only if you shut off the machine and then remove it. opening the front cover shuts off voltage, so you can actually remove it and make sure to reconnect inner unit connector and test it without coding out. But, Thanks anyway. Always good to have someone pointing out ptotential problems with ideas.

Looks like its only black doing it? You can just swap the charge around and see if the problem follows.

I just had a chance to test. Removed charge roller and didn’t get solid black. Printed a status page and got same results as sky shot that I posted. Transfer belts are on backorder. I’ll try and see if i can get my hands on a used one from somewhere for testing.
