C6526 with error C7404

I removed drum + dv unit and cleaned out spillage etc. Did not notice anything obvious with y dv unit. Reinstalled but c7404 still appears.

Any help is appreciated. Frank

I would say the issue is definitely the chip of the unit NOT the machine. I had a bad drum chip out of the box on that model. You'll have to replace the unit.

Thanks JR. Should I assume you are referring to dv unit as dv and drum units are separate on this machine and the C7404
I believe is referring to y dv unit. Have little experience on this machine but what I have had has been a nightmare. I will post results if there are any

They are separate but they both have chips and are both known to become unreadable.

I see how my example could cause confusion. I just wanted to reinforce that the chip design can be flaky.
