    Question CS-5050 - crumpled/folded jam above fuser

    Greeting Everyone!
I知 trying to fix my KM-5050, but I seem to hit a snag. All of my prints end up crumpled/folded above the fuser right before exiting. Last week I installed a brand new maintenance kit, replaced paper, toner, checked for plastic wear, but I知 not seeing anything out of scope. Any suggestions?

Possible broken exit guide. It's the black piece on the door that seats just above the fuser when you close the door.

There is a small protrusion on each end of this guide . I replaced quite a few when one of these protrusions break off and cause that guide to seat crooked.

Past the fuser/heater? Could be the unit above the heater. Remove the top right plastic cover above the door, and see if there is a paper clip or something. That unit has two switches that get dirty and could cause jams.

What about the guide on the door where the fuser picker fingers come out of. It warps and breaks.

Could be this unit. The one on the left

This is the protrusion I was referring to in my earlier post. They tend to break off of one side causing the exit guides to seat with uneven pressure.

    Thanks patrickjlc for the picture.

You have a bad exit assembly. Either one of the guide finger clusters on the unit has cracked and is slipping or you have an excessive buildup of toner and burned paper dust in the assembly. You could remove the exit assembly and thoroughly clean it, but the problem with eventually return. The long term fix is replacing the exit assembly.

If you saved the scanner locking screw you can do a simple McGuyver that will outlast the rest of the machine:

You might advise your customer that these parts are getting hard to get, so stop slamming the frickin' door.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
