    C5150 DV problem

I'm working on a C5150 color printer that initially had a 7401 code (black DV). I replaced the dv unit with two different units and the machine now works but just keeps adding toner. Copies look good except for overtoning from adding too much toner. It just keeps adding toner then goes ready after every print job. Not interested in doing the big repair, the machine is too old and too cheap. Just looking for options before I call it DOA. Thanks.

Did you enter the initial value on the label of the developer unit? It is in adjustment maintenance-service setting.
Do that when it comes to ready before printing anything.

It's kind of hidden in the service manual

    From Manual:

Entering initial value for replacing the developing unit
    Description
After replacing the developing unit, enter the initial value (6-digit data) assigned on a
label attached to the package or developing unit.
    Purpose
To set the initial value after replacing the developing unit.
    Method
    1. Enter the Service Setting menu.
    2. Select [DEV-SET] using the cursor up/down keys.
    3. Press the OK key.
Enter the initial value (6-digit data) using the cursor keys.
    4. Press the OK key. The initial value is set.

GREAT! Thanks for the precise procedure!
