    8002 fuser not resetting.

I just replaced a fusing unit in an 8002i and the counter did not reset. The new serial number registered but the old count remained. U 167 would not allow me reset, all choices were greyed out except correction value. Previous unit had 914k on it, perhaps it was too high? Any thoughts. Firmware is current.

    Re: 8002 fuser not resetting.

Was the machine turned on or was it off when you replaced it?
Sorry, I don’t have an answer for you, but this only seems to be an issue if the machine is left on when the new unit is fitted.

Is it the right model/right voltage fuser? It's not the first time that's happened. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If you don't turn these machines off before replacing units the old count can get written to the new unit.
I've noticed this with drums and devs anyway.

I believe that, you can NOT reset fuser. It is part of Maintenance kit. The whole maint. kit would need to be reset.
There is No maint C on this machine.

    Re: 8002 fuser not resetting.

One should never swap EEPROM-equipped items while machine power is on, counts and/or serials will be messed up. It's so tempting when no tools are needed, especially when troubleshooting!

I don't know if this will work in the newer equipment but its worth a try if it will save the cost of another fuser. If you are familiar with prescribe try this.
    PRESCRIBE COMMANDS
Note: It may be necessary to temporarily set the printer security to low to enable these command to get to the printer.

!R! KCFG “LFRE”, “FUSR”, 0; EXIT; - Set printer fuser PM count to zero (can set to any count).

    Hope this works for you.

    PS
You must turn off and unplug the copier before replacing maintenance units to prevent this occurrence.
